As longtime San Jose residents, we’ve watched our beloved local lakes—Lake Cunningham and Almaden Lake—decline from vibrant community spaces to waters too polluted for safe recreation. Watching this has been heartbreaking.

As former employees of the City of San Jose, we also saw the other side—the dedicated staff working tirelessly to protect these lakes, often frustrated by limited tools and resources that couldn’t stop the decline.

As we learned more about emerging and proven approaches to environmental restoration, we saw an important challenge: public agencies and nonprofit organizations may recognize promising solutions but lack the funding or resources needed to evaluate them, demonstrate their effectiveness, or put them into practice.

We created the Restoration Ecosystem Foundation to help bridge that gap.

The Foundation helps public agencies and nonprofit organizations pursue funding, scientific information, partnerships, and other resources that can help them evaluate and implement effective restoration strategies. For qualifying projects, we may help raise charitable funds to reduce the financial barriers to trying promising approaches or transitioning to more effective solutions.

Our work is guided by environmental and community outcomes—not by promoting any particular company, product, or technology.

We invite you to join us in bringing new life to our waters and our lands—and renewed hope to the communities that depend on them.
